Brethren. Our Righteousness is a gift. We received this gift by faith when believe the good news heard about Jesus

We are very much aware that this gift is received freely by faith, without merit or any form of good works performed. as it is written :

Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt
– Romans 4:4

All of us are against the notion that the gift can be earned through obedience or by doing good works. Indeed some of us will fight to death, standing boldly and say “salvation is by God’s grace, not by my works”

But I am stunned to see that some are maintaining the gift by good works. As if this righteousness will fade away or leave us?

Some have gone back to the Law not that to earn righteousness, but rather to purposely secure or lock the Righteousness received by Faith. How is it that we secure the Righteousness? aren’t we secured already? Have we forgotten what the scripture says about continuing in Faith:

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith
– Romans 1:17

How is it then that we started in Faith and ended down below in the Law? Do we not know that the Law voids Faith?

For if they who are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, the promise is made of no effect
– Romans 4:14

Faith to Faith

We did not received the gift of righteousness by good works. By no means! we received it by Faith alone. sola fide.

Now, can a sin transform the righteous back into sinner? We are dead to sin, how can we be transformed? Impossible!

the righteousness never fades or goes away, because the righteousness is a person, His name is Jesus

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption
– 1 Corinthians 1:30

We all sin. also, we know very well God does not impute  sin upon us anymore. For we maintain that Jesus paid all sins by His blood – past, present & future.

Make no mistake. grace is not found in the Law. but grace is found at the end of the Law.

There is no grace in the Law. but only rewards for obedience and punishment for the law breaker

Righteousness Apart from The Law

But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets
– Romans 3:21

Brethren, our righteousness is unlike that of the Law. We never earned it nor merit it. This Righteousness came to us by Faith. by merely believing in Jesus who is righteousness himself.

‘Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness’, and he was called God’s friend.
– James 2:23

Just as what kind of righteousness is this? the kind of righteousness that God calls us friend and tells us secrets.

The righteous shall live by faith.
– Romans 1:17

The kind of righteousness where at the day of judgment we live and not die. as the scripture says “the righteous shall live by faith”.

David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works
– Romans 4:6

Surely the Judge declares us righteous! Christ is our justification. Case dismissed!

If God Justifies, Who can condemn us?

Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies
– Romans 8:33

who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us
– Romans 8:34

Is Christ our accuser? does the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin?

Convicts – Declare to be guilty of a criminal offense by the verdict of a jury or the decision of a judge in a court of law

brethren, we are no longer guilty of any sin. Christ paid for each one of our sins. The accuser of the brethren is the devil, who accuses you of sins!

Christ is our intercessor. Jesus intercedes, not accuse.

entugchanó is greek for intercede is two words

  • en : to intensify tygxánō
  • tygxánō : to strike, hit the bulls-eye; antonym of hamartia (“to miss the mark, sin”)

Do you see that? Christ causes you to “hit the mark”. the opposite is “miss the mark” which is hamartia in greek and means sin. No wonder John says :

if anybody does sin (hamartia), we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense–Jesus Christ, the Righteous One
– 1 John 2:1

Today if I die (wordly term, believers actually sleep) and go to the throne of judgment, I can stand and say ‘Christ is my justification, Christ bore all my sins at the cross, I am righteous by the blood of Jesus, He is my representative, my lamb’

May God’s grace multiply unto you and His peace be upon your heart today! amen.

– grace and peace
