1 Timothy 4:1-5 (NIV)

4 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

does this verse to you sound like, ‘without consciousness of sin means my conscience has been seared with a hot iron’ ? well, before we make any conclusions, lets check the Greek word

the Greek word for “have been seared as with a hot iron” is “Kautériazó”

Kautériazó – whose souls are branded with the marks of sin
i.e : who carry about with them the perpetual consciousness of sin

do you notice? perpetual consciousness of sin means the conscience has been seared like a hot iron? branded by sin?

1 Timothy 4:3-5 (NIV)

3 They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. 4 For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

those whom conscience seared with a hot iron, forbid people to eat certain food, because it is sin do do such.

when I has in my early youth, my leader in the church forbid me to listen to FM radio stations because the world music is evil! then when I reach adult, another leader in the church forbid me to listen to world music because the devil can get inside the body and posses you! what a total non sense! such stupid doctrines comes from the devil. lousy

Colossians 2:20-21 (NIV)

20 Since you died with Christ to the elemental spiritual forces of this world, why, as though you still belonged to the world, do you submit to its rules: 21 “Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!”?

Are you conscious of your every move? do you say “Do not do this”, “Do not eat that”, “Don’t wear that”, “Do not listen to that”

then you are sin conscious. we should live a life free from sin consciousness. why? because the blood of Jesus took away all your sins!

Hebrews 10:2 (LEB)

2 For otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the ones who worship, having been purified once and for all, would no longer have any consciousness of sins?

look at that verse. it says we have been purified once and for all. it means perfect in conscience. not in behavior. not in conduct. Jesus did not die to sinful actions. He had none. Jesus died with imputed sins. our sins imputed to Him.

what does it mean to have consciousness of sins? it means in our thoughts or conscience, the blood of Jesus did not purify our sins

and as a result of sin consciousness, we confess sins everyday. seriously, do we confess sins everyday? if not then we aren’t serious about sin! either you confess faithfully or not.

but for those worshippers who have been purified and cleansed once and for all have no more consciousness of sins. they do not confess to be forgiven, rather they confess of forgiveness because they are forgiven. they forgive, because God has forgiven them through Christ. that is the gospel we preach. the forgiveness of all sins, and God’s righteousness apart from our good works. amen

Easier Said than Done!

Luke 5:20-26 (NIV)

20 When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”

21 The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, “Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

22 Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts? 23 Which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? 24 But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.” So he said to the paralyzed man, “I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. 26 Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.”

The Pharisees had a reason to question Jesus. for hundreds of years, they knew very well only God can forgive sins. They knew a sacrifice must be perform for the forgiveness of sin. these Pharisees knows the Laws very well.

then why did Jesus said your sins are forgiven to the paralytic? when it is only God can forgive sins? the answer is simple, yet profound. Jesus is truly God! Jesus proclaim His divine identity. He is God.

The paralytic’s sin, forgiven – that is, the sins included in the future when Jesus will shed blood and be crucified at the cross. Without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.

Hebrews 9:22 (NIV)

22 In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.

Action speaks Louder than words

so which is easier to say to the paralytic ? a or b
a.  Your sins are forgiven
b.  Rise up and walk

all will agree on a. (a. your sins are forgiven). because it is easy to say “your sins are forgiven”. how about “my sins are forgiven”? is it still easy?

it is easier said than done. when someone wronged us it is easy to say “I forgive you”. but to actually do it, is another thing. the actions are always not easy. words are easy, actions are not. actions speak louder than word. to show forth the sins of the paralytic forgiven, the paralytic acted on it.

Peace for the conscience : no sin consciousness

same with Jesus. our forgiveness of sins came with a price. It wasn’t easy for Jesus do shed blood and be crucified at the cross for our forgiveness of sins.

Jesus exactly knew that no man can make the paralytic rise up and walk. He gave us no choice but say “your sins are forgiven”!

man! all my sins are forgiven and I have no choice! Jesus even died for me when I was a sinner, long before I loved Him he loved me first!

Today, “my sins are forgiven” not that it is easier to say but because Jesus shed His blood for the forgiveness of all my sins!

Hebrews 10:2 (LEB)

2 For otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the ones who worship, having been purified once and for all, would no longer have any consciousness of sins?

You can buy an expensive Bed, but not sleep. You can buy medicine, but not health.

You can ignore sin, but not sin consciousness. the blood of Jesus wash away all your sins so that you will have no more consciousness of sins!

Peace is of the conscience. a peaceful conscience is that conscience free from consciousness of guilt of sin.

The fear of the Lord is not trembling

Psalm 130:3-4 (NKJV)

3 If You, Lord, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.

Do you fear the Lord because of sin? and that you are sin conscious because you think “it is holy to be sin conscious”? stop it. stop the false humility. true humility is acknowledging before God “all my sins has been forgiven by the blood of Jesus”

the way to fear the Lord, is only when we experience total forgiveness

lets go back to the Paralytic, straight to the last verse:

Luke 5:20-26 (MOUNCE)

26 Astonishment gripped them all, and they began to glorify God. They were filled with awe, saying, “We have seen incredible things today.”

the crowds were gripped not by human fear , but by astonishment. they were rather gripped by godly fear

godly fear means awe, astonishment, reverential, worship.

why were they gripped with godly fear? because finally, someone who can forgive sins has come.

The more you know all your sins has been forgiven, the more you will love Jesus. the more you will obey, the more you will not sin.

“He who knows much of his sins forgiven will loves much – Jesus”

Psalm 32:1-2 (NKJV)

1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
