New Wine goes into New Wineskin

The things of the New Creation will never come to terms with the Old Creation. unbelievers will never understand Grace. their highest understanding of Grace is that of a license to sin.
most unbelievers will not accept they are sinners even. what do we do then? shall we force Grace to their throat? nope. Pearls are not for pigs. rather, we give them a dose of the Law. the Law was meant for the old Adam in every man.

as the scripture says :

Romans 7:13 (NKJV)

13 … But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful

Galatians 3:24 (NKJV)

24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith

The Old Adam understood the Law very well for he is a master in ‘Good and Evil’. after all, it is the fruit of the ‘tree of knowledge’. the Law is essentially the same. it says what is ‘Good and Evil’.
The things of God are only understood by those born of God.

as the scripture says :

1 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV)

14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned

Those whom are born again are New Creations. they were once dead, but now made alive through the death and resurrection of Jesus. they have partaken from the Tree of Life as it is written “Jesus is the way the truth and the Life”
the Old Wineskin has now become the a New Creation, a New Wineskin able to receive the New Wine. at last, the Holy Spirit fills them.
now the Holy Spirit lives in us. He teaches us all things concerning God, for no one seeks the deeper things of God, except the one that came from God.

as the scripture says :

1 Corinthians 2:10 (NKJV)

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

then we are able to understand the Gospel, the Gospel in which God’s  Righteousness is revealed

as the scripture says :

Romans 1:16-17 (NKJV)

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

For us, Grace is life. we breath Grace. we eat Grace. we live by Grace. we walk by Grace. exactly the total opposite what the Old Adam knew about Grace.

Old Wine goes into Old Wineskin

the Old Adam when it tries to grasp Grace, he will burst. he will always attempt to mix Grace with the Law. because morality is part of his psyche. but when the New Wine pours, he will burst as Jesus says “New Wine will destroy the Old Wineskin”
look at this : the Old Adam’s idea of Grace is universal – ‘Grace is a license to sin’. unless transformed into New Creation, they will remain hostile to the Gospel.
the Old Creation understands old stuffs only. It is befitting to him. the Holy Spirit cannot dwell on the Old Creation therefore his knowledge is limited to logic.
When Jesus died & uttered ‘It is Finished’, the Temple curtain was thorn. as a result of that, the Holy Spirit dwells no longer in temples made by hand but rather He dwells in the New Creation being. a man must be born again to receive the Holy Spirit.
A person who does not have the Holy Spirit dwelling in him, will never grasp God’s Righteousness, Grace, Faith, Works, Love ... the things of God
The Old Creation is well verse with Adam’s theology, that is “do good get good, do bad, get bad”

  • He is expert in morality and the balance of the Law, but is never moral
  • He is a masters of ‘the ends justify the means’
  • He love the good, but the good he does not do
  • He hate the evil, but the evil that he keeps on doing

How does the Law fit in? the Law is for the Old Creation which is unrighteous

1 Timothy 1:9-11 (NKJV)

9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine, 11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust.

Conclusions

Let yourself not be surprised when the world rejects you when we preach the Gospel. Do not be dismayed when you are misunderstood or persecuted for preaching Grace. People will mock you for preaching God’s Righteousness.

The good news is, you are not the first one to be falsely accused of “giving people a license to sin”. Let it be a comfort to you that the gospel you are preaching is the same Gospel st. Paul preached. he too was accused and persecuted. so keep on preaching. don’t stop. you are on the right track.

Lastly but most importantly, Do not mix Law and Grace. neither the each one benefits from the other. Either by Faith or Work. Hot or Cold. Old Wine to Old Wineskin or New Win to New Wineskin.
