Proverbs 1:7 (CEB)

7 Wisdom begins with the fear of the LORD

Before the fall of man

Adam had fellowship with God, intimate relationship. There is was no Fear. not even the evidence of Fear.

1 John 4:8 (LEB)

8 The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

1 John 4:16,18 (LEB)

16 … God is love, and the one who resides in love resides in God, and God resides in him. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear includes punishment, and the one who is afraid has not been perfected in love.

Before Adam took of the “knowledge of good and evil”, there was no Fear yet. Not even the The Law was given yet. The Law that impose punishment.

After the fall of man

After man have eaten from the wrong tree, Fear started its way into man.

Genesis 3:10 (CEB)

10 The man replied, “I heard your sound in the garden; I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself.”

“knowledge of good and evil” make us aware of Fear, the Fear that came with sin. Fear is triggered by The Law. Fear has something to do with punishment

Adam Feared that God is going to punish him for his sin. but God as usual went out for fellowship and was looking out for him.

The Law brings out fear

During the old covenant, people feared the Law. The Law execute judgment without favoritism. Unless you find Favor (Grace) in the eyes of the Lord, you will die by The Law, be Cursed (to generations), stone to death.

The temptation of Jesus

Before Jesus was tempted, His heavenly Father affirmed Jesus His love for Him

Matthew 3:17 (LEB)

17 And behold, there was a voice from heaven saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

Then in the wilderness as Jesus was tempted by the devil

Matthew 4:3-10 (LEB)

3 And the tempter approached and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, order that these stones become bread.” 4 But he answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man will not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.” 5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and placed him on the highest point of the temple 6and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down! For it is written, ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and ‘On their hands they will lift you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” 7 Jesus said to him, “On the other hand it is written, ‘You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’” 8 Again the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, 9 and he said to him, “I will give to you all these things, if you will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan, for it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

Notice, the devil constantly saying “If you are the Son of God”. The devil removed the word BELOVED!

the devil is trying to put fear into Jesus by simply removing the word BELOVED (the assurance that Jesus is Loved) – without love is fear

Fear came to man along with sin when the First Adam fell in the garden.

“In the absence of Love, is Fear”

how can Jesus fear when He is without sin? how can Jesus fear when He is full of God’s Love?

From Fear to Worship

Now, whenever Jesus was tempted he would respond with a scripture reference. One particular reference interests me

Matthew 4:10 (LEB)

10 Then Jesus said to him, “Go away, Satan, for it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

Deuteronomy 6:13 (KJV)

13Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.

Where did “Worship” came from? Did Jesus forgot the right verse? Absolutely NOT! Jesus translated Fear with Worship. Jesus knew the devil was trying to put Fear into Him

Worship of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom

The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom, said Solomon. Solomon is the wises among the wise – past, present and future

Proverbs 1:7 (KJV)

7The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge

Psalm 111:10 (KJV)

10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom

But wait, David was Solomon’s father. Right? could it be that David taught Solomon about it? then Solomon knew it was the best there is? Wisdom?

David means Beloved. David said “The Fear of the Lord….”

Jesus is God’s Beloved. Jesus said “The Worship of the Lord….”

God does not want him Feared. God desires our Worship.

God does not want to give you Fear, but Love so you can call him “daddy” because he calls you His beloved Son

Romans 8:15 (ESV)

15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”

2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

John 3:16 (ESV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus is our Wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:30 (LEB)

30 But from him you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom to us from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption

The more we know about Jesus, about his death at the cross, How he shed His blood to cleansed us of all our sins, How he was hanged at the cross to redeem us from the curse. The more we have knowledge of Him, The more wisdom

1 Corinthians 1:18 (LEB)
18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Worship the Lord because he is the beginning of Wisdom. Lift your hearts to the Lord, Open your lips and give thanks.

a revelation of Jesus is the beginning of Wisdom for Wisdom has begun in you already.

This is the kind of Wisdom where our hearts burn

Luke 24:32 (LEB)

32 And they said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he was speaking with us on the road, while he was explaining the scriptures to us?”

True Fear is Worship, Worship is the Wisdom that says God loves you. you cannot just stand but fall down on your knees and worship Him when you knew how much God has loved you.

How much God has loved us is measured in Jesus.

Wisdom is seeing Jesus in the scripture, which results to Loving God and Worshipping Him more in the Spirit and Truthful way. amen
