Hebrews 10:26 (NKJV)

26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins.

Above is a famous and scary verse. forget that verse for now and meditate on the verses below instead.

The Absolute truth : Jesus died once for all and for all time

Hebrews 9:28 (LEB)

28 thus also Christ, having been offered once in order to bear the sins of many, will appear for the second time without reference to sin to those who eagerly await him for salvation.

Hebrews 10:1 (LEB)

1 For the law, … , is never able year by year by means of the same sacrifices which they offer without interruption to make perfect those who draw near.

2 For otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, because the ones who worship, having been purified once and for all, would no longer have any consciousness of sins?

Hebrews 10:10, 12 (LEB)

10 by which will we are made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all

12 But this one, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God

1 Peter 3:18 (LEB)

18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, in order that he could bring you to God

Because If We sin Willfully or UnWillfully

If we sin UN-Willfully will there be another sacrifice for sins? NO! Jesus does not die every year in April or Lenten season or will ever die again anytime in the future!

If our sins were UN-Willful are we then justified from sins? NO! You are justified by believing Jesus sacrificed for all your sins. NOT by the quality of your sins, be it the worse kind of sin or a simple white lie like Abraham’s.

So what does “BECAUSE (for) If we sin willfully, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins” means?

Does it mean it’s ok to sin as long as it is ‘UnWillfull’ ? What do you think?

Remember the knowledge of the truth : Jesus died once for all and for all time

To the Hebrews

To the Hebrews, Who have been instructed on the knowledge of Animal sacrifices, whose forgiveness of sins were based on a year after year sacrifice offerings.

You Hebrews have to stop offering sacrifices for your sins. After all, you already have received the knowledge of the truth.

Because (for) if you reject the knowledge of the truth and continue to offer animal sacrifices, your sin remains.
Because (for) if you reject the final sacrifice of Jesus then how are your Past, Present and Future sins going to be forgiven?

Jesus death was the final sacrifice for sins. stop already the animal sacrifices.
Because (for) If you continue to offer animal sacrifices, You sin willfully. The practice has been made obsolete by the death of Jesus, the real payment of all sin for all time.

There are no more future sacrifices for sin left.
Because (for) Jesus died once for all and for all time (past, present & future).

Now if God does not acknowledge animal sacrifices anymore, Then how are your sins forgiven? You sin willfully

The Sacrifices

The issue was this. the Hebrews, after receiving the knowledge of the truth that Jesus was the final sacrifice for sins, they still choose (will) to offer sacrifice for their sins.

a few years after the death of Jesus, the Romans destroyed the temple in Jerusalem. By default, the animal sacrifices stopped.

In the old times before the death of Jesus, the Hebrews would offer animal sacrifices for their sins. The practice was perform every year.

It was like a credit card purchase. The real payment is at the end of the month and not when you hand your credit card. Did you get it?

Forgiveness of sins is received by believing the final sacrifice of Jesus. Not believing the final sacrifice of Jesus results to “self punishment, animal sacrifice, sacrificing others, blaming/condemning yourself and others”

I acknowledge the death and final sacrifice of Jesus for me, the Son of God who laid down His life for me. amen. amen

The main subject and the truth of Hebrews 10:26 is NOT “THOU SHALL NOT SIN WILLFULLY”. NO WAY!

This is the truth and the main subject :

Now reject that truth and all your sins by default accounted on you (whether is willful or unwillful sin). For (because) you remained a sinner. Now, remained a sinner, as if you “SIN DELIBERATELY, SINNING WILLFULLY”

What shall we say then? Because all our sins have been forgiven we shall sin more? nah. They who knows much have been forgiven of them they shall love much more. It’s Jesus words, in red. not mine.

Luke 7:47 (LEB)

47 For this reason I tell you, her sins—which were many—have been forgiven, for she loved much. But the one to whom little is forgiven loves little.
