the Judgement day is an awarding ceremony to the Righteous

still familiar with this catchy phrase? – “Yes God is Love but He is Judge too” and the way it was spoken was as if God was very much angry and was going to Punish you? and then you became sick and though of sickness as if a punishment from God?

Take heart. Do not afraid!

Jesus took all our sins (also future sins) and was Judged, Punished at the cross as us! He died for you

therefore
You are Justified because Jesus was condemned (Romans 8:1,3)
You are Righteous because Jesus became sin (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Righteousness is a matter of where you are Seated not a matter good Standing

God is judge but he is GREAT love

Ephesians 2:4-7 (LEB)

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of his GREAT LOVE with which he loved us, 5 and we being dead in trespasses, God made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved), 6 and raised us together and seated us together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 in order that he might show in the coming ages the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness upon us in Christ Jesus

On the Judgment day, we shall be seated together with Christ Jesus at the Right Side of God

on that day, we will not be standing but rather seated with Christ. nor are we waiting for the death sentence for the sins we have committed in the past. NO.

There will be no movie filming of our entire life detailing the sins we have committed on earth. NO!

The Judgment Day is an awarding ceremony to the Righteous. to those who are Righteous by Faith in Jesus.

we will be rewarded for the work that God begun and completed in us. God crowns us for the achievement He has accomplished in us.

there will be great rewards for the things we did not do.

Righteousness by FAITH

Jesus is seated at the Right Side of God. those who are in Christ Jesus, are considered to be seated with Him at the Right Side of God.

Matthew 25:34 (LEB)

34 Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world!

Matthew 25:35-36 (LEB)

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me as a guest, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you cared for me, I was in prison and you came to me.’

Why would those on the Right Side inherit the kingdom? was it because they fed, gave drink, sheltered, clothed, cared and visited “the Stranger”?

look at their reaction

Matthew 25:37-38 (LEB)

37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you as a guest, or naked and clothe you?

“When did we do all these good works?” see? none of them were conscious of good works. or they would not have ask “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink…”?

They were doing the good works because they already are Righteous to begin with.

righteousness by WORK

those on the Left Side are not Righteous but self-righteous

Matthew 25:41 (LEB)

41 Then he will also say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed ones, into the eternal fire that has been prepared for the devil and his angels!

Matthew 25:42-43 (LEB)

42 For I was hungry and you did not give me anything to eat, I was thirsty and you did not give me anything to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me as a guest, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not care for me.’

Why were they thrown out? was it because they failed to feed, give drink, shelter, cloth, care and visit “the Stranger”?

look what those on the Left Side says in order to Justify themselves

Matthew 25:44 (LEB)

44 Then they will also answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and not serve you?’

Did we not we fed, gave drink, sheltered, clothed, cared and visited ‘the Stranger’!”

See how they are trying to merit Justification by good works?

“all this Law i obeyed since from my youth” and Jesus replied “One thing you lack” (Mark 10:17-22)

Righteousness will never be earned nor merited. don’t try to earn or merit it.

SUMMARY

in Matthew 25:40, notice the words “brothers” mentioned to the Righteous

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

but to the self-righteous in Matthew 25:45, notice no “brothers” mention?

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

the Righteous does not even know they did good works, AND YET they inherited the kingdom.

but the self-righteous who actually did good works and very much conscious of it, did not inherit the kingdom!

What then does it tell us?

- it tells us that a Person can never get right with God by good works. Righteousness can never be earned by good works

- it tells us the a Person can get right with God by letting Jesus represent him. Righteousness is given freely and can be received freely by Faith in Jesus

is Jesus Holy? so are we!
is Jesus Seated at God’s Right Side? so are we
is Jesus Righteous? so are we! amen!

“as Jesus is, so are we” (1 John 4:17)
