“for those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and he scourges every son whom He receives”
– Hebrews 12:6 (NASB)
“for the Lord disciplines the one He loves and punishes every son He receives.”
– Hebrews 12:6 (HCSB)
“For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.”
– Hebrews 12:6 (kjv)
No matter which version, the bottom line is “God Punishes” the Son whom He loves.
Let us look at the Hebrew word for Scourges
3146 mastigoó: to scourge
– to whip (scourge) with a mastigos (see 3148 /mástiks, a “whip”)
– to “flog (scourge) a victim, strapped to a pole or frame”
Will God really let His beloved Son, be ‘whiped’, ‘scourged’, ‘flogged’, ‘strapped to a pole’? even if He is the only beggoten Son?
Now, You might be thinking “I have sinned the other day. I deserved punishment or scourging“.
Don’t fret. You have been scourged already. Not only that, you were ‘whipped’, ‘scourged‘, ‘flogged’ and ‘strapped to a pole’.
When Jesus was Whipped 39 times,
You also were Whipped 39 times
When Jesus was Scourged,
You also were Scourged
When Jesus was Flogged,
You also were Flogged
When Jesus was Strapped to a pole,
You also were Strapped to the same pole
When Jesus died,
You also died
Jesus represented You. Jesus died as You.
Jesus is Righteousness
Today, you are Righteous because Jesus is Righteous. As He is So are You.
Jesus died, so did You.
Jesus rose from the dead, so shall You.
Jesus lives, so are You, right now!
“Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.”
– 1 John 4:17
On that day of Judgement, we who are in Christ Jesus shall stand no fear of punishment. No scourging but declared Righteous forever. amen.
We have been ‘scourged’ with Christ. We have been punished with Christ. We have been crucified with Christ.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.”
– Galatians 2:20
When God looks at His Son, the Son whom He loves, God sees You as His son, the son whom he loves. It is as if who were ‘whipped’, ‘scourged‘, ‘flogged’ and ‘strapped to a pole’.
Does God today still punishes when You sin? No. No because you have been punished in Christ. You were punished 2000 yrs ago.
Therefore live your life free from the guilt of sin. Live your life free from the fear of punishment. Live your life as the one Loved by God because You are His beloved.
The death of Death
“For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins.”
– Hebrews 10:2
Shall we sin because there is no more punishment? Count yourself dead to sin. Jesus died the death therefore live your life to God.
“The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God.”
– Romans 6:10
Live your life as one Righteous, through Christ.
“In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
– Romans 6:11
The Righteous shall live by Faith. By Faith the Righteous shall live. Amen.
A son through The Son
Through Jesus, we have become sons of God.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.”
– John 1:12-13
To those who believe on his name, they are given the power to become sons of God.
In Christ, through Christ they have been as if ‘whipped’, ‘scourged’, ‘flogged’ and ‘strapped to a pole’.
Dearly beloved child of God, stop punishing yourself from those sins committed in the past. Love thy self by forgiving thy self. Tell thy self all his sins punished in Christ.
So don’t disqualify yourself anymore from the Grace of God. Boldly receive Grace through Faith. Come to God through Jesus. You are God’s beloved. Accepted, Justified, Qualified, Glorified, in Christ.
– Grace and Peace
